Based on a newly developed many-body Wannier function analysis, the low- energy effective Hamiltonian of a series of high-Tc cuprates compounds are derived. The material dependence is found to primarily originate from a single factor, the energy level of the pz orbital of the apical atoms. It will be shown that the current qualitative disagreement in the Fermi surface between the ARPES experiments and the state-of-the-art first-principles calculation is resolved via proper inclusion of the low-energy many-body states, namely the Zhang-Rice singlet. Furthermore, a novel "super-repulsion" effect is revealed that directly control the size of local pairing gap, in direct connection with recent STM measurement.
